Dr Anisa Assifi
Anisa is a SPHERE Research Fellow in the Department of General Practice, School of Public and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. She is a public health researcher, with an interest in sexual and reproductive health, with a particular focus on abortion access and adolescent sexual and reproductive health. Anisa has worked in abortion research since 2014, starting at the World Health Organisation in Geneva on safe abortion research, as well as with the University of Technology Sydney where she was awarded her PhD in 2021. As part of SPHERE, Anisa is Project Manager of the Quality family planning services and referrals in community pharmacy: Expanding pharmacists’ scope of practice (ALLIANCE) trial and focused on research in the community pharmacy setting. She has also worked with Karolinska Institute on research in the areas of HIV and STI and University of Technology Sydney on sexual and reproductive health capacity building in humanitarian crises and female genital mutilation.
